We've just added social sharing to CodeWP which is a helpful and robust addition to our platform and will help foster additional collaboration and knowledge sharing.
There are three core features here:
By default your generations are private. If it's a helpful/unique generation, it can be made public, and show in the public snippets library, here.
Previously, there was no way to share a personal snippet to anybody but yourself, as the user would be redirected to the CodeWP login and/or bump into a "no access" message.
Now, if you use the social share feature, a unique access code is added to your link, which will bypass this system, and allow anybody with that link to access your code.
This is great for traditional social sharing - now you, your friends, and audience can view your code snippet!
But, even more important, now you can share your own code with developers, your team, and other stakeholders.
For example, say you've created some great snippet that displays a dynamic lead time for WooCommerce products in specific categories. It looks great, but you don't have time to test and implement it.
With the new feature, you can email it directly to yourself for later, or another developer/creator (or copy and share the link). To email, you must be logged in and have access to the snippet (be the author, view a public snippet, or be shared an existing access link).
Enter the email of where you want to go, and send it. The recipient will see something like this ->
Now it is easy to share knowledge and collaborate with others.
This addition was phase 1. In the future, we'll be adding the ability to send to other platform members, making the sharing features a bit more robust, and eventually implementing a new "agency" plan with team features, onplatform sharing/collaboration, projects and more.
Enjoy the new social features and leave your thoughts in the comments below!
